Have you ever wanted to broaden and deepen your yoga practice? Are you looking for a deeper connection to the community? A way to serve others while evolving personally? Do you want to learn more about the history and philosophy behind yoga? Are you interested in teaching yoga or running a studio?

If so, then the yoga immersion at Sun Yoga is a perfect choice for you! Whether you are interested in teaching yoga or looking for inspiration, our 200 hour program will expand your knowledge and deepen your understanding of yoga. We offer both teaching certificate and non certificate programs. Our small group size and course design allow the student to focus on specific areas of interest with personalized mentoring. Experienced teachers will guide you in exploring the depth of yoga practice while supporting your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Regardless of your personal interests, our program can provide the experience you need. The sessions will be offer both in person and virtually on Zoom as is appropriate for the times to come.

Students interested in teaching will graduate from our program fully prepared to create and teach hatha yoga classes in a safe and supportive manner. Sun Yoga teacher training is registered with Yoga Alliance, meeting all the requirements for our graduates to register as RYT 200 teachers.

Curriculum Overview
  • The immersion and teacher training will cover all required elements as outlined by Yoga Alliance. This includes new subject matter as well as reorganization of the required elements.
  • Sessions will be given one weekend per month over 8 months. Each full weekend will have 17 hours of training. The typical schedule would be: Friday 6-9 PM; Saturday 10:30 AM-5:30 PM; Sunday 12:30-5:30 PM.
  • In addition monthly weekend sessions, the group will meet weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 PM providing an additional 8 to 10 hours per month.
  • Required homework readings and exercises are an essential part of the training. This plus additional workshops and classes fill out the remainder of the course.
  • Components of the curriculum may be delivered online using virtual classroom technology.
  • Topics:
    • Training techniques and practice: Asana, Pranayama and subtle body, Meditation
    • Anatomy, Physiology, and Biomechanics
    • Yoga Humanities: History, Philosophy, Lifestyle, Ethics
    • Professional Essentials: Teaching methodologies, Practicum, Professional development

Certification Requirements for RYT200
  • Full attendance at all scheduled weekends and supplemental training sessions.
  • Completion of assigned homework and readings.
  • Completion of two- 500 or one-1000 word essay on an aspect of yoga. Subject to be approved by director.
  • Student teach, assisting an RYT
  • Create a full class sequence in your style of choice and teach the class
  • Successful completion of a written test
  • Tuition paid in-full

  • $3200 if paid in advance- (cash or checks only), Early bird pricing $2800 until February 4th, 2024
